Cube uses Boomi, a tool that connects various software applications, for some source system connections. Your connection will be customized to process your source data most effectively based on how that data is currently stored. Cube may manage some of this process automatically, and your IT or data team may manage other parts of this process.
Our professional services team will develop the best system for your connection and data needs. During onboarding, they will provide instructions for importing data to Cube and any other resources you need to manage it over time.
This guide is supplemental to instructions provided during your onboarding experience, so not all advice below will apply to your setup. If you have questions about your Boomi connection, our support team can help.
Importing files
Boomi connections that pass information using CSV or flat files require a standardized structure so Cube understands how to properly organize what it receives. Our professional services team will provide a file template based on the information you plan to use in Cube.
If the file structure changes, such as reordered, missing, or extra columns, Cube won't know how to ingest the data, and the import will fail. The import will also fail if the values are in an unexpected format, such as dates or numbers that don't match what Cube expects.
We recommend always referring to the file from your onboarding experience when importing through Boomi and reviewing your values if an import doesn't complete successfully. If you no longer have the file or it needs to be changed, please reach out to us.
Query management
Boomi connections that link Cube to a database or other data storage pass specific data to Cube using a query that defines what should be shared. Your data team may have written this query in collaboration with our professional services team during onboarding.
If you would like to change the query to bring different data into Cube or because your database's structure or location changes, please get in touch with us to update your connection.
Boomi Atom management
For some on-premise integrations, such as database connections, Snowflake connections, or QuickBooks Desktop, Cube will reach out to customers to install a server called Atom. You (the customer) will manage this Atom, hosted by your IT team, to help execute the data import process. This server is installed during your onboarding process to establish connectivity to the source system, and the server needs to be online when running an import to Cube.
If your integration includes an Atom, it's helpful to know where it is installed and who owns it.
Learn more about how to enable an atom that is currently offline.
The best way to keep your Boomi connection operating smoothly is to let us know when there are administrator changes or changes to your data.
