A Formula Dimension is a dimension thats value is calculated based on other Cube dimensions.
Note: Dimensions with 1 or more children (i.e. Parent Dimensions) cannot be Formula Dimensions. In addition to that restriction, formulas cannot cross Top Level Dimensions. (i.e. an account and a department)
Syntax
To reference a Cube dimension within your formula, type its name within "quotation marks". If the text you input matches a Cube dimension, the background color will turn Green.
If the text you input does not match a Cube dimension, the background color will turn Red.
Operations
Dimensions used to calculate Output* column below:
Dimension Name |
Value (Current Month) |
Value (1 month ago) |
Value (12 months ago) |
"Revenue" | 45 | ||
"COGS" | 30 | ||
"Principal" | 400 | 450 | |
"Cash" | 7.89 | ||
"Churn" | 3 | ||
"Discounts" | -10 | ||
"New ARR" | 100 | 300 | 400 |
Cube's formula builder supports the following operations:
Operation |
Expression |
Example |
Output* |
Add | + | "Revenue" + "Discounts" | 35 |
Subtract | - | "Revenue" - "COGS" | 15 |
Multiply | * | "Revenue" * 3 | 135 |
Divide | / | "COGS" / 2 | 15 |
Exponent | ^ | "Churn" ^ 2 | 9 |
Months Ago** | <MONTHS_AGO("_",# months)> | <MONTHS_AGO("Principal",1)> | 450 |
Running Total** | <RUNNING_TOTAL("_")> | <RUNNING_TOTAL("New ARR")> | 800 |
Year to Date** | <YEAR_TO_DATE("_")> | <YEAR_TO_DATE("New ARR")> | 400 |
Floor | floor("_") | floor("Cash") | 7 |
Ceiling | ceil("_") | ceil("Cash") | 8 |
Absolute Value | abs("_") | abs("Discounts") | 10 |
Round | round("_") | round("Cash") | 8 |
**Note that these operations follows a slightly different syntax than others
