This article will show you how a company uses Multiple Ranges to break down Revenue by Product Line and Location - all on one sheet.
The Setup
Note - While this company uses Multiple Ranges to break down Revenue by Product Line and Location, you can use this feature to build any number of account breakdowns. Other use cases are Personnel Expense by Department and Location, or OpEx by Entity and Business Unit.
Range 1
This range will break down Revenue by Product Line. To build this range, I'll:
- Drag Account into the Rows section and select Revenue
- Drag Product into the Columns section and select Product A, Product B, and Product C
- Click
- Set my Filters
- Click
My sheet now contains 1 active range
Range 2
Now that I can see Revenue by Product Line, I'm going to create another range to break down Revenue by Location.
- To add a new range to my sheet, I'm going to click
in the Range Selector Dropdown
- Drag Account into the Rows section and select Revenue
- Drag Location into the Columns section and select NYC, Seattle, and Chicago
- Click
- Set my Filters
- Click
And that's it! I now have a sheet that shows me a breakdown of Revenue, both by Product Line and Location.
