Build your own user types to give your team the right level of access to Cube’s features—no more, no less. Custom user types let you define which features users can view, edit, or manage, beyond the default Admin, Finance, and Business roles, and they can be edited at any time to make adjustments.
We are currently rolling out this new feature. If you don't see User Management in your Cube navigation, you'll see these updates soon!
User types are combined with data access groups to create the exact experience your team needs in Cube. For example, you may need a user type and data access group to allow someone to create dashboards, but only for their team's budget for this year. Learn more about user management.
- In User Management, from any tab, click +Create, then click User Type.
- Enter a unique name for the user type. Then click Next.
- Enable or disable feature permissions by checking the boxes in the right-hand column.
Some features can be entirely disabled to provide no access, and others require view-only as a minimum setting to ensure that Cube functions properly. Check all the boxes for a section to fully enable that feature for the assigned group of users.
Click Next when you’re finished configuring permissions. - (Optional) Apply this user type to users by checking the box next to their name. Add one or more existing users to the new user type now, or skip this step and assign users later.
Click Next to continue. - Review the new user type and make any necessary changes to the name, permissions, or assigned users.
- When you’re ready, click Submit to create the new user type, which will appear in your list of user types to assign to a user.
