Cube supports three currency configurations to help you manage exchange rates and reporting across different business structures.
When currencies are enabled, Cube will convert foreign currency transactions into the base currency by referencing the relevant exchange rate that comes from NetSuite or that you select (Open Exchange Rates (OXR) or custom). The OXR rate is a ‘current’ rate. It’s the most up-to-date data OXR has for a given day.
By Time
By Time is the simplest way to manage multicurrency data in Cube. All data is stored in a single reporting currency, and all accounts use the same exchange rate for a given period. This setup is ideal when you only need to update rates periodically and don’t require account- or entity-level variations.
By Account
By Account allows you to store all data in a single reporting currency while applying different exchange rates at the account level. This is helpful when certain accounts—like revenue or expenses—need to reflect specific exchange rates for the same currency pair and period. It offers control over how currency conversion impacts your financial statements without adding extra complexity to your structure.
If you're using NetSuite as your source system, see this article to learn more.
By Subsidiary
By Subsidiary is best suited for companies with multiple legal entities or subsidiaries operating in different currencies. Each subsidiary’s data is stored in its own reporting currency, allowing Cube to reflect how those entities operate in your source systems. You can define custom currencies, which makes it possible to apply different exchange rates to the same currency pair across subsidiaries. This setup offers the most flexibility for complex, multi-entity reporting.
