Using Cube's Sheets or Excel add-on, you have the ability to publish data to Cube directly from your spreadsheet. But some dimension types can't be published, so they're excluded from requests.
These dimension types are:
I. Parent Dimensions
If a dimension has members - or "children" - that sit beneath it in the hierarchy, it is considered a Parent Dimension. Since it's calculated by summing the values of its members, unique values cannot be associated.
II. Formula Dimensions
A Formula Dimension is a dimension where the value is calculated based on a formula set up in Cube. Since its calculation is based on the logic of the formula itself and the dimension(s) that it references, unique values cannot be associated with it.
III. Tag Dimensions
A Tag Dimension is a dimension where the value is calculated based on a tag set up in Cube. Since the calculation is based on the roll-up of the tagged dimension(s) referenced, unique values cannot be associated with Tag Dimensions.
IV. Write-Protected Scenarios
A Write-Protected Scenario is a Scenario dimension that a Write-Protection has been applied.
There are two types, each having its unique restriction:
- No data may be published to scenarios with this restriction
- Data can only be published to Account dimensions that are not mapped to a source system (e.g. Quickbooks, NetSuite, or Salesforce)
Note: Editing your range in the add-on and unchecking "Allow Publishing Data" effectively disables the ability to write to your Cube for the selected range.
Clicking "Enable publishing on this range" will bring you directly to the settings to turn the publish function back on.
Similarly, the "Allow Fetching Data" range option stops Cube from fetching from Cube and effectively writing new data to your sheet from Cube.
