Overview
The AI Analyst is most effective when it understands the specific nuances of your business. By setting AI Default Preferences, admin users can provide permanent Custom Context that guides how the AI interprets data and formats responses for any query to the AI Analyst from any user within your organization. This ensures the AI Analyst consistently aligns with your organization's reporting standards and hierarchy.
How to Set Custom Context
Admin users can define global instructions that the AI Analyst will reference during every conversation. You can access these settings from two locations within the AI Analyst interface:
From the Settings Icon
Open the AI Analyst in your Workspace.
Select the Settings gear icon located at the bottom of the chat interface.
Choose AI Default Preferences from the menu to open the AI Default Preferences drawer.
Enter your instructions in the Custom Context field.
Select Save to apply the changes.
From the More Menu
In an active AI Analyst chat window, select the three dots (More menu) in the top right corner.
Select Chat Preferences from the dropdown list.
Enter your instructions in the Custom Context field.
Select Save to apply the changes.
Best Practices for Custom Context
To get the most reliable insights, use the Custom Context field to define how you want the AI to behave.
Specify Output Formats: For example, "Always give budget vs actuals" or "Provide summaries in key points".
Highlight Important Dimensions: Tell the AI which Dimensions, such as specific Scenarios or Account hierarchies, are most critical for your analysis.
Define Business Logic: Include details about your fiscal calendar or specific departmental naming conventions to reduce the need for repeat instructions.
