Source data flows into Cube during an import according to the source dimension to Cube dimension connection, or mapping. Because data rolls up from child dimensions to parent dimensions in your data hierarchy, child dimensions can be mapped while parent dimensions cannot. Review a dimension's mapping in two ways:
- From the Dimension page, by opening the dimension details
- From the Source Data page, in the mappings for a source system
From the dimension details
From the Dimensions page, click the dimension name or the Edit icon to the right. Then, open the Mapping section to see the details:
Parent dimensions hold data that rolls up from their children and will not have mappings; only child dimensions contain mappings.
From Source Data
From your Source Data page, click the three dots next to the connected source system and then Mapping to open the mapping details:
If the mapping needs to change, click Edit Mapping. Here, you can search or filter and then select a different dimension from the Cube Dimension dropdown for your data source to map to. Learn more about mapping dimensions.
If you need to add a new dimension, see how to add one quickly from the mapping page.
