If you are creating dashboards or have had a dashboard shared with you, there may be occasions where a visualization is missing data, or you notice certain data points are missing. This guide will outline a few common reasons this might occur and how to resolve them.
All dashboards are empty
Newly invited Cube users may see blank dashboards until the data is fully aggregated for them. After a user accepts their Cube invitation, it takes 15-20 minutes to complete this process.
If dashboards are fully or partially missing values for a Cube user after this time, we recommend checking their permissions to ensure they have the correct level of access to the dimensions used in the dashboard.
A dashboard is missing
Draft dashboards are visible to Cube users with the Admin user type and those who have permission to edit a dashboard. Published dashboards are visible to Cube users who have permission to view dashboards and anyone the dashboards were shared with. Learn more about how user type permissions control dashboard access.
If a dashboard is missing for certain users:
- Check to see if it was published by checking the Drafts tab of the Dashboards page
- Review the dashboard sharing permissions while publishing or by clicking Sharing Permissions from the Published tab of the Dashboards page.
- Make sure the user's permissions include access to dashboards
Dashboards can also be permanently deleted by any Admin user or someone who can edit dashboards.
Some visualizations are missing values or partially missing values
There are a few reasons why a dashboard visualization may be missing some or all values:
- The current date is outside the question's date range
- Cube doesn't contain data for the dimension members in the questions
- Preset filters are restricting data in the visualization
- The data access permissions for your user restrict access to one or more dimension members included in the visualization.
Current date is outside of the question's date range
If a dashboard question was set to display values in a certain date range, and the current date is outside of that date range, the visualization won't have data to display. If you want to see values for a question without reselecting the dates, you can use rolling dates instead when creating the question.

Cube doesn't contain data for the question's dataset
You may also notice empty visualizations if Cube doesn't have data for the dimensions used in the questions. This might be the result of stale data that can be resolved by running an import or publishing data to Cube and then refreshing your dashboard data.
Dashboard filters are restricting data
Dashboard filters can also impact the initial view of a dashboard. Preset filters can restrict the dimensions, such as time, account, or department, so that the question doesn't contain any values for the selected options. You can quickly resolve this by removing filter selections.

Your data access group is restricting access to the data
Data access groups define the dimensions and dimension members users have access to edit and view. If a user's data access group restricts access, those dimensions or dimension members won't be visible to them across Cube, whether they're fetching to their spreadsheet, opening a report, or viewing a dashboard. If your data access group is preventing you from being able to complete an assigned task, please reach out to your Cube Admin.
