Create and maintain different ranges using Cube - all within the same spreadsheet! This feature is especially helpful when working with colleagues in large and complex spreadsheets.
Using multiple ranges supports:
- Fetching in one area of your sheet and publishing in another (see our allocations template for an example)
- Fetching to multiple ranges simultaneously
- Restricting fetch or publish permissions while collaborating in a spreadsheet
- Working with different currencies
- Manipulating a large data set that includes unrecognized fields
- Having various column or row headers in one spreadsheet to slice and dice data differently
Note: This spreadsheet must have an existing range before following the steps below to add a new one. Learn more about adding a range to your sheet.
Add an additional range
1. Add a new range to your sheet by clicking on the Plus icon in the right corner of the Spreadsheet add-on.
2. Next, build the range using whichever method works best for you.
Be sure to Validate your range to ensure every dimension is captured to Fetch your data.
Repeat these steps to add as many ranges as you need to this sheet. Need to change the range name to stay organized? Scroll down to see how to edit the range.
Switch between ranges
To move between ranges, select the range drop-down to view your created ranges. Then, uncheck the box next to the current range you're viewing and check the box next to the range you'd like to view instead.
Select multiple ranges
Select multiple ranges, or even all the ranges in your workbook to quickly fetch multiple ranges at the same time.
Name a range or edit permissions
To edit your range, click on the Edit icon in the right corner of the Add-on.
Here, you can update fetch or publish permissions for this range or rename it. Changing the permissions will restrict or enable that action for any user using this range in this spreadsheet. This is particularly useful for data management throughout your workbook.
