Ask Charlie about your forecasts, budgets, and variances in plain language, and get answers read directly from the financial data in your Cube.
Required permission: Use Charlie, in the Cube AI permission group. This permission is available to Business, Finance, and Admin users by default.
Note: Charlie is available only to Cube customers with an active contract, and usage limits may apply.
Open Charlie in the sidebar
The sidebar keeps Charlie alongside whatever you are already working on.
- Select the sparkles icon in the top navigation to open the Charlie sidebar.
- Minimize the sidebar, or expand it to full screen, at any point in the conversation.
Open Charlie in full screen
Ask a question from the AI Hub and Charlie answers on a full page, which gives generated reports more room.
- Select AI Hub in the AI section of the side navigation.
- Enter your question in the ask bar, or select a suggested action.
Charlie opens a full-screen conversation and answers there.
Note: Running a prompt from the Explore Agents catalog on the AI Hub opens the same full-screen conversation. See Get Started with the AI Hub.
Ask a question
- Enter your question in the field at the bottom of the conversation.
- Select the send button, or press Enter.
Ask follow-up questions in the same conversation to go deeper. Charlie keeps the context of what you have already asked.
Questions to try:
- How much of my marketing budget have I spent this quarter, and where are the biggest cost overruns?
- What's our current cash runway, and how does it compare to last quarter?
- I need to exceed my budget for events by $200K. Are there areas I am under plan I could pull from?
- How do different hiring scenarios affect the overall company P&L?
Work with a generated Web Report
When Charlie returns a Web Report, select it to open the report, then work with it as you would any other Cube report:
- View it in full screen.
- Filter, drill down, and fetch updated data.
- Copy the link to share it.
Start a new conversation
Select + Chat in the top right to start fresh. Use a new conversation when you switch to an unrelated question, so earlier context does not carry over.
Return to a past conversation
- Select the history icon in the top right.
- Select any conversation to reopen it and continue where you left off.
Conversations are listed with their name and when they were last active. You can also reach your Charlie history from the Explore Agents header on the AI Hub.
Set how Charlie responds
Select the settings gear in the top right to open your AI preferences, where you can give Charlie standing context about how your organization reports: preferred output formats, the dimensions that matter most, and your business logic.
Admins with the Administer AI permission set these defaults for everyone in the organization. See Setting AI Default Preferences.
Data access and security
Charlie is available only to Cube users, and every request runs inside your own Data Access Scope. If you cannot open a scenario, entity, or dimension in Cube, Charlie cannot read it on your behalf either.
Charlie can also reach transaction-level detail from your connected source systems, so it can move from a summary figure to the underlying line items behind it.
