Cube Decks (in beta) lets you add live Cube visuals directly to your Google Slides. Instead of screenshotting your data, you insert it, filter it, and refresh it, so your slides always match the source of truth in Cube.
This article covers how to install the add-on, sign in, and fix common setup issues. To learn how to build and refresh slides once you are set up, see Using Cube Decks.
Note on availability: Cube Decks is available for both Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint. This article covers Google Slides. For PowerPoint, see Set up Cube Decks for PowerPoint.
Before you begin
To use Cube Decks, you need:
- Google Slides, opened in a supported browser. For the full list of supported browsers, see Supported Browsers and App Versions.
- A Google account with permission to install Google Workspace add-ons. If your organization restricts add-ons, your Google Workspace admin may need to allow Cube first. See Add Cube to allowed Google Workspace apps.
- A Cube account.
- The right permission level in Cube. Any user can refresh a deck. Building and inserting visuals requires a Finance or Admin role. See the permissions section in Using Cube Decks.
Install Cube Decks from the Google Workspace Marketplace
Cube Decks is available in the Google Workspace Marketplace, so installing it takes just a few clicks.
The fastest way to find the listing is from Cube. In the Cube web app, open the side navigation and, under Apps, click Google Slides. This links you straight to the Cube Decks listing in the Google Workspace Marketplace, where you can install it. You can also go directly to the Cube Decks listing on the Google Workspace Marketplace.
You can also install it from within Google Slides:
- Open a presentation in Google Slides.
- On the Extensions menu, select Add-ons, then Get add-ons.
- In the Google Workspace Marketplace window, search for Cube Decks (publisher: Cube).
- Select Cube Decks, click Install, and follow the prompts.
- When Google asks you to grant permissions, review and accept them so the add-on can run.
Once installed, Cube Decks appears under Extensions > Cube Decks. Select Open to open the Cube panel on the right side of your slide.
Once installed on one account, the add-on follows your Google account and is available anywhere you sign in with the same account.
- Open the Cube panel from the Extensions menu. It docks on the right side of your slide.
- Click Sign in and log in with your Cube credentials.
- The panel connects to your Cube workspace. You are ready to build.
You only ever see the data you are allowed to see in Cube, and what you can do in the panel depends on your Cube access.
Troubleshooting
Cube Decks will not load, or the panel is blank. Try these steps in order:
- Refresh the browser tab so Google Slides reloads the add-on.
- Confirm you are signed into the Google account you used to install Cube Decks. If you are signed into more than one Google account, the add-on runs under the account that owns the presentation.
- Check whether your organization allows the add-on. If your Google Workspace admin restricts add-ons, Cube must be on the allowed list. See Add Cube to allowed Google Workspace apps.
- Reinstall the add-on. Open Extensions > Add-ons > Manage add-ons, find Cube Decks, remove it, then install it again from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
- If it still will not load, contact Cube support.
FAQ
-
I do not see Cube Decks under Extensions after installing.
- Refresh the browser tab, then open the Extensions menu again. Confirm you are signed into the same Google account you used to install it, and that you have the presentation open under that account.
-
Google asks me to grant permissions again.
- This can happen after a Google security update or if permissions were reset. Review and accept the prompt so the add-on can connect to Cube. If your admin has to approve the app, see Add Cube to allowed Google Workspace apps.
-
A single visual failed to refresh, but the rest of the deck updated.
- This happens when you do not have access in Cube to the data behind that visual. Refresh only ever shows data you are allowed to see. Contact your Cube administrator if you believe you should have access.
-
I can refresh, but I cannot build or insert visuals.
- Building requires a Finance or Admin role. Ask your Cube administrator to confirm your user type.
-
My visual looks out of date.
- Click Refresh, then check the last-refreshed timestamp on the visual. If a filter changed, confirm your global filters in Filter Management and refresh again.
-
I need to sign in again.
- Open the Cube panel and click Sign in to log back in with your Cube credentials.
