Build ad-hoc tables and charts on the fly in the Workspace, drill into the transactions behind any value, and save your view to the Library or add it directly to a Board.
Required permission: Manage Personal Boards, Decks & Builds. This permission is available to Finance Users and Admins by default.
Note: Users with View Boards, Decks & Builds can open builds that have been shared with them but cannot create or edit them. The configuration panel stays disabled in view-only mode.
Steps
- In the Workspace, select Builder from the left navigation.
- Choose a chart type under Chart types, or select Build with AI to describe what you want to build.
- Drag dimensions into Rows, Columns, and Filters to configure your view.
Note: Edit Data, Style, and Format Details work the same way they do on Boards.
- To see the transactions behind a value, right-click the value and select Drilldown.
- To rename, duplicate, or delete the build, select the More menu.
- To save the build to the Library, select Save, then Save.
- To place the build on a Board, select Save, then Add to board. Select the board and tab, then add it as a widget.
- To bring in the latest data after a publish or write-back, select Refresh.
- To reopen a saved build, go to the Library, select Reports, then select Builds from the Filter by menu. Select the build name to open it in Builder.
What updates automatically
- Saved builds appear in the Library under Reports, filtered to Builds.
- A build added to a Board renders as a live widget that reflects current data.
- Refresh re-fetches the latest data and records the last refresh time on the build.
- Permissions and Data Access Scope apply on every open, so each user sees only the data they are cleared to see.
