Save your budget to a scenario in Cube so you can fetch that data into reports, use it in formulas, create multiple variations for working budgets and what-if analysis, and visualize it in dashboards.
There are two ways to load your budget into Cube:
You can also load your budget using a combined method by first uploading the data to a scenario in Cube, then fetching it to your spreadsheet to make changes or gather input from stakeholders. Publish final changes to save everything to Cube.
Either way, before you get started, prepare a scenario dimension to hold your budget data. We recommend naming the budget scenario using time periods or versions so your team can quickly work with the data it contains.
Publish your budget
Choose this option if you are saving budgets sent to you from departments or would like to review changes in your spreadsheet before saving them to Cube.
1. Open your budget in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel.
2. Highlight your budget cells and click Select, then Select Range in Cube. Learn more about selecting ranges.
3. Validate dimensions. Cube will review the cells in the selected range to see if there are dimension names it doesn't recognize. Learn more about dimension validation.
If your team reuses this spreadsheet each budget cycle, you should also review the dimensions on your sheet and any drivers in dropdown lists to see if any new accounts, departments, scenarios, etc., need to be added.

4. Review the selections in your columns, rows, and filters, especially if you are publishing to a department budget or particular budget scenario.
All selections must be a child-level dimension member in order to publish.
4. Click Publish Data to save your budget to the selected scenario in Cube.
[Optional] You can comment in the change message field before publishing to add more details. This comment will appear in the Audit Trail.

Upload your budget
Choose this option if you already have budget data that you can export as a CSV or TXT file to quickly save it to Cube.
1. Create a data table to accept the data upload. Your Cube team may have already completed this during implementation. You can verify which data tables exist on the Source Data page and add one if needed. Learn how to create a data table.
2. Set your file up to match your Cube dimensions. Be sure to add a Scenario column for the budget scenario you created to hold this data. Learn how to prepare your data upload file.
3. Upload your flat file to your data table. Follow the onscreen directions to map and validate the data and finalize the upload. Learn more about uploading files to Cube.
When your file is uploaded, this budget data is saved to the scenario and ready for you to use in dashboards or reports in your spreadsheets.
