Connect Rippling to Cube to import employee compensation, headcount, and department data directly from your HRIS, so your workforce plans start from the same numbers your people team uses.
Required permission: You must be an Admin user in Cube to add an integration. In Rippling, you must be a Super Admin, Full Admin, or App Admin to install the Cube app. Contact your Cube implementation manager or Cube support to enable Rippling for your Cube.
What the integration imports
Cube reads compensation data from each employee's Rippling record and imports it into your Cube:
- Accounts: base salary, FTE headcount, total headcount, bonus amount, and commission amount.
- Dimensions: Department, Location, and Legal Entity. So you can view headcount and compensation by team.
- Employee status: active and inactive employees, so headcount reflects hires and terminations by period.
Cube reads from Rippling. It does not write data back to Rippling.
Before you start
- Confirm your company has the Rippling App Management package. If it does not, contact your Rippling account manager to add it.
- Confirm the person installing the app is a Super Admin, Full Admin, or App Admin in Rippling. If not, ask your Rippling Super Admin to update your permission profile. Rippling explains how in their help center.
- Ask your Cube implementation manager or Cube support to enable Rippling for your Cube.
- Confirm your Cube Time dimension includes every year that has an employee start or termination date, including future-dated hires.
Note: If an employee's start or termination date falls outside your Time dimension, the import stops with the error "Start date must be before end date." Add the missing years to your Time dimension, then import again.
Connect Rippling to Cube
You can start from Rippling or from Cube. Both create the same integration.
Start from Rippling
-
Go to the Cube app in the Rippling App Shop.
- Sign in to Rippling.
- Install the Cube app.
- Select Continue to return to Cube.
Start from Cube
- Open Integrations in the Cube Workspace.
- Select + New.
- Select Rippling.
- Sign in to Rippling.
- Approve access for the Cube app.
Your Rippling integration now appears on the Integrations page. Your Cube team finishes the initial configuration, including the Department dimension and how employees are counted each month (active at month end, or active at any time during the month).
Employee access
Cube users are managed in Cube, not in Rippling. During install, Rippling may ask whether to grant employees access to Cube when they are onboarded. Do not grant employee access in that step. Add the people who need Cube from the Users page in Cube instead.
If employees who should not have Cube access appear on your Users page after you connect, contact Cube support and we will remove them.
Map and import
Once your Cube team confirms setup is complete, map your Rippling data to your Cube structure. Your Cube team can do this with you.
- Open Integrations.
- Select your Rippling integration.
- Open Mapping.
- Map each Rippling account to the matching member of your Account dimension.
- Map Rippling departments to your Department dimension.
- Select Import Live.
Import again whenever you want the latest Rippling data in Cube.
Sign in with Rippling
After the Cube app is installed, Cube users can sign in with their Rippling account:
- From the Cube login page, select Sign in with Rippling.
- From the Rippling dashboard, open the Cube app.
Signing in with Rippling only works for people who already have a Cube user.
Disconnect Rippling
- In Rippling, open the Cube app from your installed apps.
- Uninstall the app.
- Contact Cube support if you also want the Rippling integration removed from your Integrations page.
Limitations
- Cube imports planned compensation from the employee record, not payroll runs. Paid amounts such as severance, actual bonus, actual commission, benefits, and employer taxes are not included, and totals will not match a Rippling payroll report. To bring in payroll run data, export it from Rippling and upload it to Cube as a file.
- Bonus and commission reflect target amounts on the compensation record.
- Department is the only Rippling field available as a dimension today.
- Amounts import in each employee's pay currency. Use multi-currency in Cube to report in one currency.
- Imports run when you select Import Live. Scheduled imports are not available for Rippling.
