Schedule regular data imports from your source systems to consistently keep your source systems' data fresh. During each scheduled import, Cube automatically identifies new dimensions and maps them based on your settings.
To schedule your imports, head to your Source Data page.
Next to your source system, click on the clock icon to open the scheduler.
- Select the date range to refresh from the drop-down or create a custom range by selecting your time dimensions. We recommend choosing the current year so Cube will update transactions as scheduled imports run throughout this year.
- Set the cadence
- Frequency can be daily or weekly on a specific day
- Time of day (by default in ET, in hour intervals)
Note: If your source system connection utilizes an Atom, schedule the import for when the computer that hosts that Atom is online. If the Atom is offline, the scheduled import won't be able to run.
- Select a scenario to import your data to. Only scenarios with actuals write protection will be available. Learn more about write protection.
-
Set defaults for when dimensions aren’t specified for a value’s full cross-section during an import.
For example, if a value is imported for the Travel Expenses Account for the Sales Department of the GCO US Entity for March 2024, but the Product and Market dimensions aren’t identified, Cube will set them to your defaults: Product - Other and Market - Other.
-
Confirm or add mapping rules. This section details the mapping rules that will apply to automatically map any new source dimension found when the scheduled import runs.
The following mapping rules are available to choose from:
-
Map new source dimensions to an existing Cube dimension
-
Create a new Cube dimension for every new source dimension
-
You can also choose not to set a rule, so manual intervention is needed if a new dimension is found. This mapping rule will cause the scheduled import to fail if there are new source dimensions. You’ll be notified about the dimensions that need to be mapped before the import can be restarted.
-
- Click Save to schedule your imports and repeat for each source dimension you’d like to schedule imports. In the Last Import column, a blue clock icon tells you the next time this scheduled import will run.
You’ll receive an email notification every time your scheduled import runs, notifying you of the new dimensions mapped. You can remap these dimensions anytime.
Cancel or Modify a Scheduled Import
Open a scheduled import by clicking on the clock icon to the right of the source system. Here, you can make changes to your scheduled import and save them or cancel a scheduled import by clicking Remove.
